Drawing competition : "Menton, a city of Palaces"

Through the theme of the competition, "Menton, a city of Palaces", the talents of students from high schools and colleges in Menton and its surroundings will be highlighted and who knows, maybe nurture a future vocation. A unique opportunity to participate in a first collective exhibition in the Palais de l'Europe and to confront their work to the public eye. There are also many prizes to be won. Get your pencils ready !

The drawing competition is open to all secondary school students in Menton and the surrounding area.

Calendar :
Monday January 16th - Launch of the call for entries
Monday May 8th - Closing of the call for entries
June - The announcement of the winners will be made during the end of year exhibition of EMAP which will take place at the Palais de l'Europe, Menton. A space will be dedicated to the presentation of all the candidates' drawings.

Theme : "Menton, a city of Palaces"

Conditions of participation in the competition :
- The drawing must be in A3 format (42 x 29.7 cm).
- In black and white or in colour (graphite pencil, charcoal, pen, felt pen, pastel, coloured pencil, red chalk, black stone).
- Surname, first name, address and date of birth must be written on the back of the drawing in capital letters.
- Do not forget the signature of the parents or legal guardian.
- All works that respect the required format and are submitted on time will be entered in the drawing competition.

Some ideas for consideration :
Candidates can approach the theme in different ways and thus try to reproduce :
- The garden (general or detailed view, i.e. the flora, benches, jars, paths, etc.)
- The architecture (general or detailed view, i.e. mouldings, windows, frescoes, coats of arms, friezes, interior or exterior view...)

A bank of images will be made available to candidates. You can also find the book "Menton, a city of Palaces", by Monnier Yves, Bottaro Alain, Mariotti Julie, Kertenian Remy prefaced by Bernard Toulier and Jean-Claude Guibal, at the library Odyssey in Menton. Candidates may also use images from the web.

Members of the jury :
The jury of the drawing competition is composed of the Director of the EMAP, two drawing teachers from the EMAP, a representative of the culture department of the Town Hall.

The members of the jury will evaluate the works according to the following criteria :
- The overall impression of the drawing
- Expressiveness
- Quality of execution
- The strength of the message
- Uniqueness and personality
- originality
