Discovered in 1958. The stone tools found on the site date back 1.2 million years, making it one of the first known prehistoric sites in France and Europe. The month of the cave is located about 110 meters above sea level in the ravine of Vallonet, which descends towards the bay of Menton. The cave was the home of hme erectus prehistoric man, as well as for tome of other species of carnivores.
