Made famous during the "Belle Époque", the Rondo is located at an altitude of almost 500 meters, at the highest level of the Grande Corniche Road, proud of its Trophée d'Auguste and the medieval village of La Turbie, whose East Gate is located nearby.
During the "Belle Époque", winterers were charmed by this breathtaking view, which they reached from the coast, thanks to the mule tracks that crossed the crops on the terrace, then from 1894, by the rack train that left Monte-Carlo.

During the "Belle Époque", winterers were charmed by this breathtaking view, which they reached from the coast, thanks to the mule tracks that crossed the crops on the terrace, then from 1894, by the rack train that left Monte-Carlo.
This train was dismantled in 1932 following a serious accident but the view is still spectacular from the Rondo, as Philippe Casimir, mayor of La Turbie and author of tourist guides wrote in the 1900s : “This panorama, discovering one of the largest and most varied scenery in the world, is an attraction that deeply impresses”.
