La grotte des Loubières à Gorbio

This cave, located on the Loubière plateau, is a small cavity formed in a mass of large blocks of Jurassic limestone. Excavations have delivered shards of ceramics from the Late Neolithic, Copper, Early Bronze and Middle Bronze Ages, which testify to an occupation of the site at the end of Prehistory between 5,000 and 3,500 BC.C. The discovery of human bones (corresponding to four adults, a teenager and a child) indicates a use of the place as a tomb cave without it being possible to know which precise period is concerned.
