This route can be done on a classic mountain bike (pro level) or on an electrically assisted mountain bike. It is the first stage of the roaming of the Haute Route du Sel and can be done on the occasion of a simple round trip and is also.

Departure from Place Saint Martin in the village of La Brigue. (~765 m.)
Leave the village by the Boseille bridge and follow the road to the next intersection. take the direction of the Notre Dame des Fontaine chapel (or Italy sign). Follow the track that runs along the chapel on the left. (~870 m.)

After the pin; stay on the main track which rises above the chapel. Shortly after there is a superb view of the village of La Brigue. (~1000 m.)
Continue to follow the track until the forest of Pinet (~145 m. and flat). After the hairpin, follow the track that climbs to the top of Pinet and leads to Col Linaire. (~1450 m.)

Then follow the direction of the Sanson drop (only track that continues to climb) for about 4 kilometers. (~1700 m.)

The decline of Sanson marks the border between France and Italy. Beautiful panorama of the coastline and the mountains of the Ligurian Alps. Take the track on the left, at the bend of a bend, you can see in the distance the proud Mount Saccarello, arrival of this first stage.

Follow the track to the Pas de Colle Ardente; two possibilities: either by the forest track on the left of the oratory, or by the track on the right. If by the right, it will be necessary to join the track by a small climb on the left after a few kilometers which leads to the Pas de Colle Ardente, at the level of beacon 271.

Follow the track that climbs towards the Pas du Tanarel. At first lightly paved, the track turns into a real effort to read the terrain: pebbles, stones, holes and sometimes light steps punctuate the path. Possible passage of motorized vehicles. This is probably the hardest part. Do not hesitate to dismount when necessary. Towards the finish the track improves and leads to the Pas du Tanarel. Panorama guaranteed.

Continue on the track downhill, then at the intersection turn right to reach Mount Saccarello. A small track takes you to the top.

Go back down to the giant statue of the Redeemer. You have arrived !

Possibility to continue to the refuges of La Terza or San Remo a few meters further.
